(KYIV, UKRAINE) – The Defence Procurement Agency of Ukraine has expanded the Prozorro Market electronic catalogue for military units to 15 categories of goods. The catalogue is used by military units that make purchases with decentralised budget funds.
The Ministry of Defence announced the expansion. The catalogue previously offered only four items: pickup trucks, motorcycles, buggies and quad bikes. The agency has now added 11 categories of clothing and equipment. These include technical camouflage products, thermal underwear, body armour, individual camouflage kits, field suits, jackets, tactical footwear, electric motorcycles and winches for quad bikes.
Pickup trucks remain the most requested category. Orders for pickups total almost UAH 144 million. This is equal to about 3.9 million US dollars or 3.1 million British pounds. Orders for buggies total nearly UAH 72 million, equal to about 1.95 million US dollars or 1.54 million British pounds. Quad bike orders total UAH 10.4 million, equal to about 282,000 US dollars or 222,000 British pounds.
Arsen Zhumadilov is the director of the Defence Procurement Agency. He said military units should have a simple and clear way to buy what they need with decentralised budget funds. He said they should not waste time on complex procurement procedures. Zhumadilov said the agency takes on part of the work that each military unit previously had to do on its own. He said the agency is gradually expanding Prozorro Market so that more typical military needs can be met through the platform.
The Ministry of Defence and the Defence Procurement Agency have also developed an updated concept for reforming the food supply system for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Under the new system, products will be checked before delivery to military units. Logistics will be ordered separately from food products.
