(KYIV, UKRAINE) β Passengers travelling from Ukraine will have a new rail connection to Germany from 1 August 2026 after Spanish railway operator Renfe launches a new international overnight service between PrzemyΕl in Poland and Frankfurt am Main. Ukrainian Railways, known as Ukrzaliznytsia, will provide connecting services from major Ukrainian cities to make the journey easier for travellers.
Ukrzaliznytsia announced that the new route follows a recent strategic cooperation agreement signed with Renfe to strengthen international passenger and freight transport between Ukraine and European rail networks.
The overnight train will operate daily between PrzemyΕl and Frankfurt am Main, passing through several cities in Poland and Germany. Stops will include Bad Schandau, Weissenfels, Naumburg, Apolda, Gotha, Eisenach, Hanau and Offenbach. The service will also stop in Prague in the Czech Republic and Ostrava in the Czech Republic, expanding travel options across Central Europe.
Passengers arriving in PrzemyΕl from Ukraine will be able to transfer directly from several Ukrzaliznytsia services. These include train numbers 51 and 52 from Kyiv, 31 and 32 from Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro, 69 and 70 from Kremenchuk, 35 and 36 from Odesa, and 89 and 90 from Kyiv.
The train will leave PrzemyΕl each day at 12:04 and is scheduled to arrive in Frankfurt am Main at 07:22 the following morning. On the return journey, it will depart Frankfurt at 15:03 and reach PrzemyΕl at 11:25 the next day.
The service will offer Economy Sleeper Class carriages with private compartments for between one and four passengers. The sleeper coaches will include air conditioning, free WiFi, power sockets and breakfast, which is included in the ticket price. First and second class seated coaches will also be available.
Sleeper tickets will start from β¬37.50, equivalent to about US$43.60 and Β£32.30 at current exchange rates. Seated tickets will start from β¬15.00, equivalent to about US$17.45 and Β£12.90.
The new service is expected to improve rail connectivity between Ukraine and Germany while supporting easier travel for business travellers, tourists, students and people visiting family across Europe. It also reflects continuing efforts by Ukraine to strengthen transport links with European Union countries through international railway partnerships.
The launch follows a strategic cooperation agreement between Ukrzaliznytsia and Spain’s national railway operator Renfe aimed at developing both passenger and freight rail services and increasing integration between Ukraine and the wider European rail network.
