(TOBOLSK, RUSSIA) – The ZapSibNeftekhim petrochemical complex in the Russian city of Tobolsk in the Tyumen region has been closed for an indefinite period following a drone attack, Reuters reported, citing three industry sources.

One source told the news agency that the facility had been halted with no timetable for restart while the scale of the damage and its wider effects are being assessed.

No volumes of liquefied petroleum gas were offered for sale on the St Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange on Tuesday for loading at the Tobolsk dispatch point. Earlier in 2026, roughly 4,000 metric tonnes of a technical propane and butane mix had been sold from the location on a daily basis.

According to industry sources, ZapSibNeftekhim produces about 6 million metric tonnes of liquefied gas each year. That volume represents roughly 40 percent of Russia’s total liquefied petroleum gas output.

Market participants noted that approximately half of the liquefied gas produced at the site is consumed as feedstock for petrochemical production at the integrated complex operated by the company Sibur in Tobolsk.

Ukraine’s defence forces confirmed on 10 August that they had struck the Tobolskneftekhim petrochemical plant in Tobolsk, Tyumen region of the Russian Federation.
