(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Ukraine’s iron ore exports fell by 27.3 percent in the first seven months of 2026. The country shipped 13.9 million tonnes of iron ore between January and July, down from the same period in 2025.
The GMK Center industry publication reported the figures based on data from the State Customs Service. China remains the largest buyer of Ukrainian iron ore. Exports to China fell by 36 percent to 6.42 million tonnes during the period. Slovakia received 2.44 million tonnes, down 12 percent. Poland received 1.74 million tonnes, down 36 percent.
In July alone, Ukraine exported 1.87 million tonnes of iron ore. This was 7.2 percent lower than June and 37.6 percent lower than July 2025.
Revenue from iron ore exports reached 1.08 billion US dollars in the seven month period. This is a fall of 14.5 percent. The July revenue was 148 million US dollars, down 12 percent from June and 22 percent lower than July 2025. The seven month revenue is equal to about 850 million British pounds or 986 million euros. The July revenue is equal to about 116 million British pounds or 135 million euros.
Ferrexpo has temporarily suspended production of iron ore products at its mining and processing plants in Ukraine because of problems with sea logistics.
