(SINGAPORE) – More than 300,000 Visa cards held by United Overseas Bank (UOB) customers across five Southeast Asian markets will be upgraded to higher card tiers, following a partnership between the bank and Visa. The move comes after Visa introduced two new premium card categories, Visa Infinite Privilege and Visa Infinite Private, on 16 July.
UOB said the upgrades will affect cardholders in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. Eligible UOB Visa Infinite cardholders will be informed of their new card tiers starting from September 2026. The bank added that all other cardholders in the five markets will keep their current privileges, with no downgrades anywhere in the portfolio.
UOB described itself as Visa’s largest card issuer in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) based on total billings, serving more than 8.5 million customers across the region. The bank said the number of new UOB affluent cardholders grew more than 10 percent year on year in 2025. Card billings for this customer segment rose more than 25 percent during the same year.
