(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Consumer price inflation in Ukraine rose to 7.7 percent in July 2026 on an annual basis, ending a four month run of slowing price growth. Prices increased by 0.3 percent compared to June, according to data released by the State Statistics Service.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, stood at 0.3 percent month on month and reached 8.1 percent year on year.
Food and non alcoholic beverage prices fell by 0.2 percent in July from the previous month. Eggs recorded the largest decline, dropping 6.0 percent, followed by vegetables at 5.9 percent. Prices for pork, poultry, grain products and lard decreased by between 1.3 percent and 0.6 percent. At the same time, price increases of 1.5 percent to 0.6 percent were recorded for fruit, fish and fish products, sunflower oil, soft drinks, milk and dairy products, bread, pasta and sugar.
Alcoholic drinks and tobacco products rose in price by 1.5 percent, linked to an increase in tobacco product prices of 1.8 percent.
Clothing and footwear prices fell by 4.8 percent in July. Clothing alone became cheaper by 5.8 percent, while footwear prices decreased by 3.5 percent.
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel costs increased by 1.6 percent. This was driven largely by a 31.9 percent rise in water supply tariffs and a 29.8 percent increase in sewage tariffs. On an annual basis, water supply costs have risen 52.1 percent and sewage tariffs are up 48.8 percent.
Transport prices grew by 1.3 percent, mainly as a result of a 6.0 percent increase in road passenger transport fares and a 2.7 percent rise in railway passenger transport costs.
In June, consumer prices in Ukraine had fallen by 0.1 percent from May, with the annual rate at 7.2 percent, marking a fourth consecutive month of slowing inflation. The National Bank of Ukraine expects inflation to accelerate towards 10 percent this year, alongside economic growth of 1.8 percent.
