Ukraine Carrot Prices Dip 10% as Harvest Floods Market

(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Wholesale carrot prices in Ukraine have fallen by an average of 10 percent over the past week as an oversupply of the root vegetable meets weak demand across the country. Carrots are now selling at 18 to 26 Ukrainian hryvnia per kilogramme, equivalent to approximately 0.40 to 0.58 US dollars per kilogramme, or 0.31 to 0.45 British pounds per kilogramme.

Analysts from the EastFruit project reported that the price drop is driven by a surplus of product on the market at a time when buyer interest remains relatively low. Harvesting is actively underway in nearly all regions of Ukraine. With supply outpacing demand, producers have been forced to offer concessions to buyers and reduce farm gate prices.

Despite the current price decrease, carrots in Ukraine remain on average twice as expensive as they were in mid August last year.

Ukraine imported 4.704 billion US dollars worth of agricultural products in the first six months of 2026, an increase of 8 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. The overall structure of agricultural imports has stayed broadly stable. However, since the start of the full scale war, vegetables have appeared with growing frequency among the main imported food categories.
