(LVIV, UKRAINE) – Construction has started on parking areas for lorries near two border crossing points between Ukraine and Poland. Around 500 parking spaces will be built near the Rava-Ruska to Hrebenne and Krakovets to Korczowa crossings.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport announced the works on Facebook.
“In the Lviv region, works have started near the Rava-Ruska to Hrebenne and Krakovets to Korczowa crossing points. Within the project, we will arrange 270 parking spaces near Rava-Ruska and 200 parking spaces near Krakovets,” the ministry said.
The sites will be full waiting zones for freight transport. They will include lighting, water supply, drainage, sanitary facilities and the necessary road infrastructure.
The waiting zones will help organise the movement of freight transport, reduce pressure on access roads and make border crossings more orderly and safe.
Preparatory and construction works are already under way at both sites.
The project is supported by the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility programme. It is part of the EU Ukraine Solidarity Lanes initiative.
The first phase of modernisation of the lorry terminal at the Porubne to Siret crossing on the Ukrainian Romanian border has also been completed.
