(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Ukraine and Moldova have agreed a 50 percent discount on transit rail freight for Ukrainian cargo.
Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced the deal on Telegram.
“Following a recent conversation with Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, we reached an agreement on a 50 percent discount on transit rail freight for Ukrainian cargo,” the statement said.
Mr Koretskyi said the new regime will run from 10 August until the end of 2026.
From 17 August, the route of the Kyiv to Chisinau train will also be changed under the agreement between the two countries. The change will make transfers to Chisinau airport more convenient and significantly faster for Ukrainians.
Ukraine and Moldova have also agreed to temporarily maintain water release from the Dniester hydro complex at 85 cubic metres per second due to critically low water levels in the Dniester river.
