Hryvnia Slips Against Dollar, Edges Up Against Euro Ahead of 12 August Trading

(KYIV, UKRAINE) – The National Bank of Ukraine has set the official exchange rate for 12 August, showing the hryvnia weakening marginally against the US dollar while firming slightly versus the euro.

The official rate for the US dollar was fixed at UAH 44.86, a loss of 3 kopiykas for the hryvnia compared with the rate of UAH 44.83 in effect on 11 August. One euro was set at UAH 51.75, a gain of 3 kopiykas for the Ukrainian currency from the previous level of UAH 51.78.

At the current official rate, one US dollar buys UAH 44.86. Expressed in other terms, that puts the dollar at UAH 44.86 (USD 1.00 / GBP 0.78 / EUR 0.87). One euro at UAH 51.75 translates to the single currency being worth UAH 51.75 (USD 1.15 / GBP 0.91 / EUR 1.00).

The daily fixings are published by the central bank each working day and serve as a reference for commercial banks, businesses and foreign exchange market operations across the country.

The minor adjustment comes against the backdrop of broader exchange rate assumptions built into the state budget for 2026. The government has based its fiscal planning on an estimated average annual exchange rate of UAH 45.6 to the US dollar.
