(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Ukraine’s central bank has set a slightly stronger official exchange rate for the hryvnia against the US dollar for 30 July, while the local currency edged marginally lower against the euro. The adjustments reflect small daily movements in a managed exchange rate regime that the National Bank of Ukraine continues to operate.
The official rate for the US dollar was fixed at 44.87 hryvnias, a decrease of 5 kopiyok from the previous day’s level of 44.92 hryvnias. The euro was set at 51.08 hryvnias, up 2 kopiyok from 51.06 hryvnias recorded on 29 July. The figures were published on the central bank’s website.
The latest official rates translate to approximately 0.0223 dollars to one hryvnia and 0.0196 euros to one hryvnia. Expressed in British pounds, one hryvnia buys about 0.0175 pounds, based on current cross rates.
The hryvnia has traded within a relatively narrow band in recent months under the central bank’s policy of managed flexibility. The government’s draft state budget for 2026 assumes an average annual exchange rate of 45.6 hryvnias to the US dollar, suggesting that policymakers expect a gradual adjustment in the currency over the course of the year.
The National Bank of Ukraine intervenes regularly in the foreign exchange market to smooth out sharp swings and maintain stability. The daily fixing provides a benchmark for official transactions and serves as a reference for commercial banks and businesses operating in the country.
In a separate development, the central bank is preparing to update the typeface on the 2,000 hryvnia banknote, a technical adjustment to the design of the country’s highest denomination note.
