(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Foreign companies providing electronic services to Ukrainian users paid 11.3 billion Ukrainian hryvnia in so called Google tax to the state budget in the first seven months of 2026. At current exchange rates, this sum equals approximately 252 million US dollars, 197 million British pounds and 218 million euros.
The State Tax Service reported that the figure is 1.5 billion hryvnia higher than the amount collected during the same period last year. The increase of 1.5 billion hryvnia is equivalent to roughly 33.5 million dollars, 26.2 million pounds and 29 million euros.
Non resident companies transferred 92.8 million euros and 149.4 million US dollars to the budget during the period. The 149.4 million dollars converts to approximately 116.9 million pounds, while the 92.8 million euros is equal to about 102.8 million dollars and 80.4 million pounds. Among the largest payers are global digital companies including Google, Apple, Valve, Meta, Sony, Etsy and Netflix.
The number of taxpayers is also expanding. Since the start of 2026, a further 18 non residents supplying electronic services to individuals in Ukraine have registered as value added tax payers. As of 1 August, the total number of such registered taxpayers stood at 159.
The Tax Service reminded that a non resident must register as a VAT payer if the total value of electronic services supplied within the customs territory of Ukraine exceeds the equivalent of 1 million hryvnia over the preceding 12 months. This threshold amounts to roughly 22,300 dollars, 17,400 pounds and 19,300 euros.
In the first six months of 2026, revenue from the tax on electronic services provided by non residents, known as the Google tax, totalled 82.4 million euros and 106.7 million US dollars. The 82.4 million euros is equal to about 91.3 million dollars and 71.4 million pounds, while the 106.7 million dollars converts to approximately 83.5 million pounds and 96.3 million euros.
