(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Ukraine’s farmers have gathered more than 10.6 million tonnes of grain from this year’s harvest, according to figures from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
As of 28 July, agricultural producers across all regions have threshed 2.6 million hectares, which represents 22 per cent of the forecast area. The total amount of grain collected from the new crop stands at 10.65 million tonnes.
The harvest includes 6.61 million tonnes of wheat, taken from more than 1.53 million hectares. The average yield for wheat is 43.2 centners per hectare. For barley, the total collected is 3.49 million tonnes from 790,000 hectares, with a yield of 44.2 centners per hectare.
Peas have yielded 549,500 tonnes from 279,500 hectares, with an average productivity of 19.7 centners per hectare.
The leading regions for early grain and leguminous crop collection are Odesa, Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk. In Odesa, farmers have threshed more than 2.42 million tonnes of grain from 586,700 hectares. Mykolaiv has produced over 1.79 million tonnes from 514,100 hectares. Dnipropetrovsk has collected more than 1.49 million tonnes from 376,400 hectares.
The rapeseed harvest is also continuing. Farmers have gathered 1.31 million tonnes from 539,600 hectares, which is 41 per cent of the planted area.
The harvest data arrives as the country faces continued attacks on its port infrastructure. Russian forces have increased missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian ports and vessels during July. Despite these actions, the Ukrainian maritime corridor remains operational. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the corridor has handled more than 200 million tonnes of cargo, including over 120 million tonnes of grain. The grain trade remains a vital part of the national economy and global food supply chains.
