(KYIV, UKRAINE) – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has committed more than €1.4 billion (around $1.53 billion or £1.2 billion) to projects in Ukraine since the start of this year, covering energy, transport and critical infrastructure recovery with concrete results expected before the end of 2026.

Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi held talks with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso and the bank’s senior management to review existing financial support projects. Koretskyi described the discussion as important and detailed, focusing on specific initiatives with clear outcomes for the country within the current year.

The Prime Minister said the projects relate primarily to energy, transport and the restoration of critical infrastructure. He added that systemic longer term projects are also in place and that both sides will work together on their implementation.

The conversation separately addressed the introduction of best corporate governance standards in the state sector. Koretskyi said support for government initiatives on the privatisation of state banks and state enterprises was also discussed.

Koretskyi expressed gratitude to the EBRD for its consistent support of Ukraine. The volume of EBRD investments in Ukrainian projects since the beginning of this year alone has exceeded €1.4 billion.

The EBRD has been one of Ukraine’s largest institutional investors since the start of the full scale war. Its financing has targeted energy security, municipal infrastructure, transport links and support for private sector enterprises. The bank’s governing body has previously endorsed capital increases to sustain investment levels in Ukraine over the coming years.

The latest engagement follows an earlier announcement that the EBRD will provide €90 million (around $98 million or £77 million) to strengthen the protection of Ukraine’s energy system and to build up reserves of equipment. That allocation forms part of the broader effort to maintain power supplies and heating during periods of strain on the national grid.

Ukraine’s government continues to pursue an agenda of state asset sales and governance reform. The privatisation of state banks and enterprises has been identified as a priority area for international financial support and technical assistance.
